Terms and Conditions

2HELP1 POLICY TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Below mentioned is a schedule of the more important terms and conditions applicable to the 2Help1 Policy as entered into between 2Help1 Underwriting Managers (Pty) Ltd herein the “Company” and the “Client”.

  1. The 2Help1 Policy between the Company and the Client is automatically renewed monthly with an annual review, provided that the premium is received on the due debit date. No cover will apply for any month in which the premium has not been received.
  2. The Company acts as an agent for the Service Provider. All service liabilities rest with the Service Provider. The Company is not liable for non-delivery, delays, or quality of service.
  3. The Company may substitute one Service Provider for another with 30 days’ written notice.
  4. The Client may cancel the Policy with one calendar month’s written notice by fax or registered post.
  5. An annual administration fee will be debited on the anniversary of the policy.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

All Principal Members must nominate dependants on the application form. Only nominated individuals are eligible for claims. Participation is voluntary and valid while the plan remains active. Coverage ceases upon non-payment or death of the Principal Member. Dependants must notify AUI in writing if they wish to continue cover.

CHANGES TO MEMBER’S RECORD

Changes must be submitted by the member to prevent delays in claims.

WAITING PERIODS

  • 6-month waiting period for natural death under age 64 (from first premium).
  • No waiting for accidental death (after first premium).
  • No cover for suicide in the first 12 months.

PREMIUM PAYMENT

Premiums are payable monthly in advance to African Unity Life (AUL). Payment is plan-specific.

GRACE PERIOD

15-day grace period applies after the first premium. If payment is not received, cover lapses and waiting periods reset upon rejoining.

DEFINITIONS

  • Principal Member: Employed individual or paying client meeting eligibility.
  • Spouse: Legally or customarily married partner, including common law and same-gender partners.
  • Children: Unmarried biological, step, or adopted children under 21 (or 25 if studying). Disabled children covered beyond 21. Stillborns covered from 26 weeks.
  • Extended Member: Financial dependants like parents, siblings, nieces, etc.

NOTES

Only nominated individuals can claim. Updates for life events like marriage or birth must be submitted in writing and will be subject to waiting periods.

REVISION

AUL may revise the Plan at any time with 3 months’ notice to the Policyholder to accept new premiums.

CANCELLATION

All liabilities cease upon written cancellation and last premium payment. This includes cancellations by AUL, the Policyholder, or Principal Member.

SURRENDER VALUES

No surrender values or loans are allowed. Benefits may not be pledged or ceded.

HOW TO CLAIM

CLAIMS REQUIREMENTS

  • AUL claim notification form
  • Certified copy of the death certificate
  • Certified IDs of the deceased and the claimant
  • Marriage certificate if the deceased is a Spouse
  • Proof of child-parent relationship if the deceased is a child
  • Fully completed BI 1663 form
  • Proof of full-time student status (if applicable)
  • Medical certificate for disabled children (if applicable)
  • Additional documents as required

Claims must be reported within 6 months. Required documents must be submitted within 30 days of reporting.

PREMIUMS

Premiums are due monthly in advance in ZAR. Cover applies only for months where the premium was received by AUL.

PAYMENT OF THE BENEFIT

  • Death of Principal Member: Beneficiary must notify AUL within 6 months. Payment goes to nominated beneficiary.
  • Death of Dependant: Principal Member must notify AUL within 6 months. Payment goes to Principal Member.

CORRECTNESS OF STATEMENTS

If incorrect or false information is provided, the policy may be voided and benefits forfeited. AUL may recover paid benefits obtained through misrepresentation.

AMOUNT OF BENEFIT

Benefit amount is detailed in the applicable group schedule.

EXCLUSIONS

No claims will be admitted for causes including (but not limited to):

  • War or military action
  • Riot or civil unrest
  • Terrorism
  • Criminal acts

FRAUD

The policy is void if fraudulent claims are made, or if fraudulent means are used to gain benefits. AUL must not be misled at any point.

LAW

The policy is subject to South African law.
